Claire Veceleine Dufrene, HSNNE Executive Board Secretary. Born in Gonaives, Haiti, Claire is the 2nd of seven children. After migrated to the United States in 1971, she studied at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY, where she obtained her BS in Education and minored in bilingual education. She later added a MA in the Teaching of ESL from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Claire currently teaches 4th & 5th Grade at Benjamin Banneker Academy in East Orange, NJ. She is a proud mother of two daughters and the beloved grandmother of five. She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Newark, where she participates actively in the Rosary Society, Cursillo, and Youth Ministry. Mrs. Dufrene joined Haiti Solidarity of the North East in 2014. She is actively involve in community and social outreach such as the Coady Haiti Movement, as well as the “1804 Action in Washington D.C.” in May 2018. Claire is eager to live out the faith ideals of Catholic Social Teaching.
